I believe design can shift how a whole community thinks, feels and acts. As a freelance public sector communications designer with over 20 years’ experience, I partner with socially responsible organisations to turn complex ideas into clear, compelling messaging. By combining strategic thinking with accessible design, I create communications that earn trust, inspire action and help build stronger communities.
To help purpose-driven organisations communicate clearly through strategic design that informs, inspires and supports positive change.
I’ve worked across a lot of different sectors over the years, and each project has taught me something new. But the work I enjoy most is with purpose-driven organisations — ones actually trying to improve their communities and how we live, work and relate to each other. Whether that’s sustainability, healthier habits or stronger local communities, I’m drawn to organisations that use what influence they have to make things better.
At its core, much of my work comes down to one thing: helping people take in information that matters — for their health, their environment, their communities. That might mean encouraging people to stay active as they age, adopt more sustainable habits or find healthcare information more easily. I’ve worked with organisations including the NHS, Rochdale Council, Oldham Council, the Environment Agency, United Utilities, BMI Healthcare, Canals & River Trust and Innerva, helping them get their message across through branding, campaigns and digital design.
Good design should do more than inform — it should move people to act. That’s the belief behind everything I make.
